![]() I agree with you on the UI aspect of the program. Overall Resolumes midi mapping is extremely unintuitive and limited. A system wide MIDI mapping that carries over project to project (even the example I used above with mapping an FX on/off in a chain), and a project specific mapping. Then there's the fact that Resolume has 2 different midi mapping so built in. You cannot set the MIDI OUT value like you can in VDMX either which is especially useful if you want to change the colour of pads on an RGB controller. It's also impossible to map 2 or more controls to the same parameter in Resolume. ![]() You also cannot add Num FX to a slider like you can in VDMX, or use an LFO or Step Sequencer as a modifier. It doesn't follow the FX I mapped it to, but rather the # in the chain. If I map say the 2nd FX on/off to a button on my midi controller, if I then add a new fx to that layer and move it above the first FX I had, I actually lose that MIDI mapping. In a scenario where I have a chain of FX on a layer. I've researched already and I think it's best if I turn to the VJ forums here! Thank you in advance!!Īs someone who uses both Resolume & VDMX I have to say I think the midi mapping in Resolume is severely limited. It seems like that's been difficult for me to find, or maybe I'm just not looking in the right places. I just want to use a simple and RELIABLE software, that I can download for free on my Mac. or use code and I honestly am not a code person and don't understand some of that stuff. I've already read up on some forums and free software like freemix, FreeJ, LiVES, veejay, and GLMixer have been recommended BUT some of them don't run on Mac, just Linux. The gig is playing visuals to live concert music. I want to download a free program (or even trial program - as long as period of use exceeds 10 days) to use that is intuitive and not so difficult to fuck up. But it's still usable and I am getting more memory upgraded this week in time for a potential gig on the 30th.Ĭomputer specs: 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo NVIDIA GeForce 320M "graphics processor with 256 MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory" ![]() So basically I don't have the money to shell out for the top-notch professional VJ software, and I am on a shitty 2010 MacBook Pro. ![]() Hi all, I'm new to this and subsequently have many questions to ask. ![]()
